Students pursuing their Associate's Degree in Computer Information Systems at Fletcher Technical Community College have the background to help you and your clients.


Students are competent in several areas of interest including Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Cloud Computing, Databases, Networking, and Human-Computer Interaction.


Students can work for 100 hours in a project-based internship, starting in January or March, to help solve and derive insights about a challenge faced by a prospective company partner.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Students are available for a 100 hour internship to complete a project related to a business challenge your organization is facing related to information systems. Deliverables will vary depending on the scope of the internship. However, these deliverables must be discussed and agreed upon prior to the start of the internship.

Project examples

Project activities might include but are not limited to:

  1. Network Security Audit and Improvement: Conduct a security audit of the company’s network infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities, and proposing security enhancements based on best practices in cybersecurity.
  2. Database Optimization for Performance: Analyze the company's existing database system to identify bottlenecks, optimize queries, and improve overall performance, focusing on reducing response time and resource usage.
  3. Mobile Application Development: Develop a cross-platform mobile application that addresses a specific business need, such as inventory management, employee communication, or customer engagement.
  4. Cloud Infrastructure Migration: Assist in the planning and execution of migrating the company's IT infrastructure to the cloud, focusing on scalability, cost-efficiency, and data security.
  5. Data Visualization Dashboard: Design and implement a real-time data visualization dashboard that aggregates key performance indicators (KPIs) from multiple data sources, enabling stakeholders to make informed decisions.
