Yak Meat Recipe Development
We are seeking innovative culinary solutions to expand the use of yak meat in everyday cooking. We have a YAK farm and are looking to expand the educational component to our clients. The goal of this project is to develop a variety of recipes that highlight the unique flavors and nutritional benefits of yak meat, making it appealing to a broader audience. Students will apply their culinary skills and knowledge of food science to create dishes that are both delicious and easy to duplicate. Yak meat has a similar sweetness in flavour to beef, but is lean like an elk or deer (without the gamey flavour). Most cuts are ground but can also get steaks, roasts, etc. The project will involve researching traditional and contemporary cooking techniques, experimenting with flavor pairings, and considering dietary trends. The use of local ingredients that can be grown in gardens in Zone 3A. By the end of the project, students will have a comprehensive understanding of how to incorporate yak meat into diverse culinary contexts, enhancing its appeal in the food industry.
